Definitions
Pharmacognosy is the study of plants and other natural substances as possible sources of drugs. Phytochemistry is the study of chemicals derived from plants (including the identification of new drug candidates derived from plant sources).

OBJECTIVES:
A multidisciplinary approach to plant (and other natural substances) identification, extraction, analysis (and more) in our ever changing world of
drug research & development.
Focusing on Plant Resources of the Tropical Africa (PROTA), as well as Plant Resources of the World (PROW). Emphasizing on the Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs) educational needs in particular.

This program focuses broadly on pharmacognosy and phytochemistry; Pharmacognosy plays a major role in the herbal drug studies in entirety, while Phytochemistry is the study of phytochemicals which are chemicals derived from plants.

CURRICULUM:
*Selected analytical methods, phytochemical tests, industrial processes and managerial skills of importance to (the) R & D and pharmaceutical industries were highlighted.

COURSE DURATION: 
12 months (Asynchronous)

COURSE FEE:
700 USD per 4 weeks ( an additional fee of one-off 100 USD is required for application processing).

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
BHSc 'NAT', MBBS, BSN, B. Pharm and other health related degrees.

Mode of Instruction: Online (Machine Learning, Self-Paced).

Award Title: M.Pharm (Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry)

INTENDED AUDIENCE:
University graduates, health professionals and other individuals with an interest in Natural Pharmaceutical Sciences.
