Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) 

Definition of Nursing:
Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying people.
 
Program Goal (s ):
Nursing graduates are committed to:

-Caring for patients with acute and chronic illnesses;facilitating discharge planning; providing palliative care; and offering patient education; illness prevention services, and health maintenance care.

-Providing comprehensive care that considers the patient’s social, emotional, cultural, and physical needs.

-Ensuring optimal patient care through objective, systematic monitoring, established standards, and criteria-based evaluations.

-Ongoing investigation of theories and implementation of techniques designed to improve patient care.

-Recruiting, developing, and retaining top-quality nurses and providing robust learning experiences for nursing students.

-Creating and maintaining a progressive environment that fosters creativity, encourages personal and professional growth, and displays the performance of service standards, among others.

Expected Capabilities and  Skills:
Qualities of a good nurse is invaluable to hospitals and health systems, the following attitudes are expected of a Nursing graduate;

-Caring.
-Strong Communication Skills
-Empathy
-Attention to Detail
-Sound Problem Solving Skills
-Good Sense of Humor, among others.

Curriculum:
For General Nursing, Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing and Midwifery;
Basic Sciences and  Nursing Fundamentals  covering but not limited to the following are required for BNS award;
-Anatomy  
-Physiology
-Biochemistry
-Genetics
-Nutrition
-Microbiology
-Parasitology
-Mycology    
-Virology  
-Bacteriology
-Immunology 
-Community Medicine 
-Pathology
-Medicine
-Psychiatrics
-Ophthalmology
-ENT
-Surgery
-Obstetrics and Gynecology
-Child Health &  Midwifery
-Nursing fundamentals.

COURSE DURATION: 
3 Years.

COURSE FEE:
5,000 USD / academic year .

COURSE REQUIREMENT(S):
A score of 50% and above in Premed (PREMED)

Mode of Instruction: Online (Machine Learning, Self-Paced).

Award Title: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

INTENDED AUDIENCE:
School leavers and graduates with science background, health professionals and other individuals with an interest in  nursing.
